The NR3 Beer Mile is back at the end of this month, offering the chance to try beer at some of the best pubs in the centre of Norwich.

NR3 Beer Mile

The event runs from Wednesday, 31st July, until Sunday, 4th August, at the following independent pubs:

And there will be:

  • 255 different lines of beer and cider
  • One-off events
  • Live music
  • Tap takeovers
  • Beer mash-ups
  • Treasure hunts
  • Quiz nights
  • Drink and draw sessions
  • Incredible food offerings, including street food pop-ups

All events are free and supports a local charity, The Silver Road Food Bank. All sponsors are local NR3 independent businesses too: Sound Yard, Norfolk Retro, Ninety Three Store, Mizu-Usagi, and Ernie’s Zero Waste Shop.

All participating pubs have a booklet detailing the events. Collect a stamp at each pub and, if you complete the Beer Mile, you’ll receive a special NR3 badge. There’s also limited-edition merchandise available at each venue.

“From 31st July 31st to 5th August, visit each pub, collect stamps, enjoy special events, and drink great beer! What could be better?” said Mark White, owner of the Brewery Tap.

“Come join us for an unforgettable celebration of community, great beer, and good times. See you on the NR3 Beer Mile!”

NEWS IN BRIEF

Penzance Brewing Co’s Rob Wilson has unveiled a beer that he considers completes the microbrewery’s range, 49º Porter (4.9% ABV). Dark ruby in colour with a slightly smokey note, expect flavours of muscovado sugar, some spiciness, coffee, and bitter chocolate.

Grain Swift Departure

Swift Departure (4.5% ABV) is a golden summer ale from Grain Brewery. Brewed with Maris Otter barley, along with Dark Munich and wheat, it is hopped with Progress, Willamette, and Citra for a deep honey flavour with a gentle aroma of citrus. It is brewed to mark the swifts leaving the brewery to head back to Africa for the winter.
