With its regular venue undergoing refurbishment, Norwich CAMRA will be taking its festival to venues around the city this year.
The 2023 festival in The Halls, Norwich
“It’s Norwich Beer Festival, but not as we know it!” said CAMRA branch vice-chair Lucy Cousins. “This year, we’ve had to be creative whilst our beloved venue is refurbished, and we’ve decided to have some fun with it.”
The festivities kick off on Thursday, 24th October, spanning 12 days of beer tastings, live music, coach trips, and more, in partnership with Norwich’s finest pubs and breweries.
A highlight of the event will be the World Beer pop-up at Castle Social, located on level three of Castle Quarter, in support of Build Charity and Headway Norfolk & Waveney.
Inspired by the World Beer Bar from previous festivals, and sponsored by the World Beer Awards, this pop-up will feature an extensive selection of bottled beers from around the globe. Running from Thursday, 31st October, until Sunday, 3rd November, visitors can also enjoy tasty treats from the surrounding food hall.
Already on board to host events are popular venues such as the Beehive, the Brickmakers, and Redwell Brewery, with many more to be announced.
Claire Brooks, licensee of the Brickmakers and B2, said: “We’re really excited that this year’s beer festival is coming out into the community. Norwich has a wealth of great pubs and this gives us a chance to showcase what we do best. And it’s all for good causes.”
Pubs and breweries interested in participating should email getinvolved@norwich.camra.org.uk.
Norwich CAMRA chair, Ian Stamp, said: “This year’s festival is about more than just great beer. It’s about giving back to the community that has supported us for so long, and also supporting local charities.”
