The annual British Guild of Beer Writers Awards are now open for entries. There are prizes up for grabs in 17 categories.

Beer Writers awards winners 2023
Winners at the 2023 awards ceremony and dinner

For 2024, there are two new award categories: best short-form beer writing and best technical
communication about beer.

The winners and runners-up, alongside the Guild’s brewer of the year, sponsored by SIBA, will
be announced at an event in London on 27th November. For the second year running, the Guild has partnered with Big Penny Social to host the annual dinner and awards ceremony.

“In such turbulent times, great writing and analysis of the beer industry has never been more important, and rewarding those who excel is a vital part of ensuring they’re able to continue,” said Jonathan Garrett, chair of the British Build of Beer Writers.

“We’ve changed up the categories a little to reflect modern journalism and today’s beer industry, and hopefully this will help us celebrate an even more diverse and exciting range of writers and writing.

“I’m excited to see the shortlist once our independent and very talented judging panel have chosen them!”

All entries will be judged by the Guild’s independent panel, chaired by the current beer writer of the year, David Jesudason. The full judging panel will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Full details of all categories, and advice on how to submit entries, can be found on the Guild’s website. Entries must be received via the dedicated entry website by the closing date of 25th August, and work
submitted must have been published between 1st September, 2023, and 25th August, 2024.
