Sandford Orchards is celebrating British Cider Week with the launch of a new film which goes behind the scenes of its production process.

“We know that what we do at Sandford Orchards is pretty special,” said chief cidermaker Barny Butterfield (pictured).

“We are not like your average cider producer, but it is sometimes hard to encapsulate those differences. That’s why we enlisted the help of award-winning brand storytelling agency Untold to help us articulate our story and let the viewers get under Sandford Orchards’ skin.”

The new film tells the story of Barny, who grew up in a house set in an orchard, made his own cider because he preferred it to what was readily available, and eventually turned his hobby into a business based in the UK’s oldest working cider mill.

The film captures the cider apples, grown in orchards planted in Devon’s red soil and nurtured by local farmers. It follows the apples to the mill where they are pressed and fermented by experienced cider makers.

The six-minute film, two-minute version, and series of nine reels are being launched this week and will appear over the coming months on social media and Youtube, as well as featuring on Sandford Orchards’ new website.
