Batemans, based in Wainfleet, Lincolnshire, began from humble beginnings in 1874 and has been a continuous presence in Lincolnshire through two world wars, a keg beer revolution, and a near buy-out following a family share disagreement.

2024 sees the brewery’s 150th year serving crafted beers to its 51 pubs and free trade customers. Along with the celebrations, it was decided to refresh the company’s branding and pumpclips. The new logo was launched in January and the clips are changing this month.

Both the logo and the pumpclips are easily recognisable as Batemans, harking to the tradition of craft brewing, but positioning the business strongly for the next phase of growth: ‘Tradition with Ambition’.

Batemans brews various speciality beers each year, including a variety of collaborations. So far this year it has joined up with De Bock, from Belgium, and Buxton Brewery.

The main core cask beers are XB, Triple XB, and Yella Belly Gold. These are about to be joined by a new cask beer, Five Generations, recognising and celebrating the fifth generation of Batemans joining the family business.

Five Generation is a 4.2% ABV light amber pale ale, brewed with Maris Otter pale and oat malts. It has a smooth biscuity flavour and a hop aroma of peach, pineapple, mango, and passionfruit.
