Triple Point Brewing’s craft beer is to become an integral part of Sheffield’s Olivier award-winning musical Standing at the Sky’s Edge during its London West End run.

Triple Point Sky's Edge

Originally staged in Sheffield, the show is returning to London for a second year, with performances at the Gillian Lynne Theatre. These follow sold-out runs at The Crucible and at the National Theatre.

Standing at the Sky’s Edge is a “love letter to Sheffield”, as termed by Sheffield Theatres. It charts the hopes and dreams of three generations of Park Hill residents over the course of six tumultuous decades. It navigates universal themes of love, loss, and survival.

Directed by Robert Hastie and written by Chris Bush, both from Sheffield, Standing at the Shy’s Edge won best new musical at the Olivier Awards. Its soul-stirring music, by Sheffield songwriter Richard Hawley, went on to win best original score or new orchestration.

“We’re unbelievably excited to share the news of the collaboration,” said George Brook, co-founder of Triple Point Brewing.

“Starting out with the musical at The Crucible in 2019 was a fantastic start to our journey as a start-up brewery. Being asked again to brew beer for its London debut is an absolute honour, especially when it’s come so close to our fifth birthday.”

Triple Point will celebrate its fifth anniversary on 15th March, almost five years after brewing beer for Standing at the Sky’s Edge in 2019.

George added: “Sheffield has a rich history of brewing. To play such a fundamental role in bringing this together for the musical is incredible.”

Rupert Lord, co-producer of Standing at the Sky’s Edge said: “Triple Point’s specially created Standing at the Sky’s Edge 4.2% IPA is a fantastic way for our West End audiences to keep it fully Sheffield, even in the intervals. I am really chuffed that their loyal Sheffield-based customers will be able to drink it at the theatre.”
