Brighton microbrewery Loud Shirt is celebrating two awards — including a gold — from the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA).

Hazed & Confused collected the gold award in the bottle and can pale ale category, in the South East region competition. In addition, there was silver for EXP11, a New England IPA which is part of an experimental series of brews.

Both beers will now go through to the competition’s national final, to be held at SIBA’s BeerX trade event, in Liverpool, in March.

“We’re delighted to receive these awards and the recognition for our passion and commitment to brewing remarkable craft beer,” said head brewer and co-owner, Elias Asimakis.

“In just two years, the brewery has produced 20 different beers, expanded trade across the UK,and opened a taproom for craft lovers to enjoy our beers in a social setting. Despite this growth, we’ve remained passionate about the consistency of our products, both individually and across our range.

“We’re proud of our innovation and delighted to be recognised for this in a line-up of leading industry names, by whom we’re eternally inspired.”

Loud Shirt Brewing Co, located in East Brighton, has a core line of four beers, available in keg, cask and can. It has regular collaborations with local and regional breweries.

Hazed & Confused (4.5% ABV) is Loud Shirt Brewing Co’s flagship beer, developed over the last eight years. Hazed & Confused is a fruity, full-bodied, sessionable New England IPA. It is packed full of all-American hops, with distinct tangerine, tropical fruit, and stonefruit aromas.

EXP11 (6.2% ABV) is the 11th in the brewing co’s experimental line. Also a New England IPA, EXP11 has a soft grain bill, giving a gentle pillow-like body to the beer. There are sweet tropical notes and low bitterness, for easy drinking.
