The Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) is to present a ‘first of a kind’ beer showcase at the British Guild of Beer Writers Annual Awards Dinner tomorrow.
The SIBA team
SIBA will be pouring beers from award-winning independent breweries and presenting a showcase of Brave Noise beers. These have been brewed in support of the project which describes itself as “a collaboration with a big goal: a safe and discrimination-free beer industry”.
The beers comprise a draught New England IPA from Hand Brew Co, and two canned beers — a hop-forward pale ale from Attic Brew Co, and a dark mild from Merakai.
The showcase has been organised by Pip Young, founder of The Coven (a four-times beneficiary and collaborator in the Brave Noise project) and SIBA’s event and marketing officer.
“It is extremely important to champion projects that aim to create a more inclusive and safer beer industry, especially a global initiative like Brave Noise,” said Pip.
“At The Coven we have worked with amazing breweries on now four Brave Noise beers, and our gratitude to do so is endless. It’s great to be able to now work with the SIBA team here to showcase the project at such a prestigious event.”
The SIBA bar will be pouring draught beer from Anspach & Hobday, Eko Brewery, Hand Brew Co, Hop Union, Neckstamper, Rooster’s, Salt Beer Factory, Signature Brew, and Wild Card. There will also be a range of bottled and canned award-winners.
Neil Walker, SIBA’s head of communications and marketing, said the organisation was proud to be showcasing the Brave Noise beers at the beer writers’ dinner. “Brave Noise is contributing to deliver a more welcoming and respectful culture within the beer community, something which SIBA wholeheartedly supports.”
The Hand Brew Co, Brave Noise NEIPA (6.3% ABV) was brewed in association with Loughran Brewers Select and Indie Hops. It is described as “a thick, juicy, and intense NEIPA. Hyper-indulgent oat levels in the grist give this beer a full creamy finish, while generous dry-hopping with Citra, Mosaic and Indie Hops’ Strata, sponsored by Loughran Brewers Select, bring big tropical aromas, punctuated by unctuous red berries and a dank hint of hemp.”
