A beer created by Ebb Tides Seaweeds in collaboration with Moor Brewing Co has won a gold at the Food Drink Devon Awards.

Ladram Bay Bitter was awarded at a ceremony at Sandy Park, Exeter, home of the Exeter Chiefs rugby team. The beer joins Ebb Tides’ other gold-winning seaweed-based beer Danger Point Red Ale as part of its coastal beer range.

According to Ebb Tides Seaweeds director Tony Coulson, seaweed reduces inflammation and protects against liver damage and obesity. “People report feeling no or little hangover effects,” he added.

Ladram Bay Bitter is made with sugar kelp, found at the popular tourist hotspot of Ladram Bay. It gives a savoury umami taste, with caramel tones, and a sweetness on the nose.
