Favourites are back — with a twist — as Brew York unveils its 2023 Festive Collection, a set of four indulgent brews with a Christmas spin.
Every year Brew York releases Christmas beers along the same formula. These include Fairytale of Brew York (a milk stout), Dreams of Brew York (a fruity sour), and Nightmare of Brew York (an imperial milk stout). Each has changing festive flavours, which the team carefully selects each year.
The set also includes a very limited-edition State of Mind beer, which is a 12-month barrel-aged version of last year’s Nightmare of Brew York.
The beers
Fairytale of Brew York 2023, stroopwaffel milk stout, 4.9% ABV
An indulgent milk stout with flavours of caramel and a subtle cinnamon spicing. Available in cask, keg, and can.
Dream of Brew York, 2023, cherry, cranberry, and apple pastry sour, 6.5% ABV
This year, the brewer has used masses of ripe cherries, cranberries, and juicy apples to create the festive sour. A dash of cinnamon adds a hint of mulled spice, with vanilla rounding off the tartness. Available in keg and can.
Nightmare of Brew York 2023, stollen imperial milk stout, 8.5% ABV
Loaded with pistachios and marzipan to bring a strong nutty flavour, the beer is balanced delicately with candied lemon and orange. A spice blend of cinnamon, cardamom, and allspice helps to enhance the festive flavours, and additional lactose adds a rich, creamy body. Available in keg and can.
Barrel-Aged Nightmare of Brew York 2023, State of Miind, barrel-aded imperial milk stout, 9.8% ABV
Last year’s Christmas gingerbread imperial stout, full of rich, warming ginger and cinnamon, with heaps of vanilla, barrel aged for a year. Available in keg and can in limited numbers. All beers are vegetarian friendly.
