The Watchmaker’s Arms, in Hove, has been named regional pub of the year for Surrey and Sussex by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

Ruth, Jon, Luciano, and Rick receiving their award as Brighton and South Downs CAMRA pub of the year earlier this year
Having already been voted branch pub of the year by the Brighton and South Downs branch of CAMRA in February, the pub progressed to compete against others voted for by other CAMRA branches across Surrey and Sussex.
The Watchmaker’s Arms is no stranger to winning CAMRA awards, having been voted branch cider pub of the year and branch runner-up pub of the year in 2022. It also brews Chocolate and Hazelnut Pendulum Porter, which was voted the best ale at the South Downs Beer and Cider Festival in Lewes, back in June.
“We are very much looking forward to celebrating our awards for regional POTY (pub of the year), and best beer of the
Lewes festival on 31st August, when we will be joined by CAMRA, the whole TWA team, and, of course, our wonderful customers,” said Ruth and Rick, from the Watchmaker’s Arms.
“In what has been a very good year for The Watchmakers, these awards are the icing on the cake, and we are delighted to receive them.”
Jason Phillips, chairman of Brighton and South Downs CAMRA, said: “I would like to congratulate Rick and Ruth on their fantastic success. It is a great achievement to win our branch POTY and prove themselves the best across the whole of Sussex and Surrey this year as voted for by CAMRA members. This is a first for a Brighton and Hove city establishment.”
All are welcome at the presentation event at 6.45pm on 31st August.
