Shropshire-based writer Laura Hadland has been named as a finalist in the drinks writer category of the Guild of Food Writers Awards.

Following hot on the heels of her book, 50 Years of CAMRA, being named the best beer book in the world by Gourmand International, Laura has been recognised for three pieces of writing in particular:

  • Up The Down Escalator: Beer Nouveau, in Manchester for Pellicle Magazine. Laura also took the photographs that accompany this article
  • The Ethics of Living a More Sustainable Life, for Beer magazine (spring 2022)
  • Big Six Rebooted, for Beer magazine (cover feature for autumn 2022)

These articles are just a small sample of the work that Laura has produced over the last 12 months. She has also had bylines in The i paper and The Telegraph, Cibare Magazine, Ferment, and Glug, alongside writing monthly columns for Vineyard Magazine and What’s Brewing.

As well as writing extensively, Laura also runs a range of public and private tours and tastings, including a monthly beer tour in Shrewsbury. Most recently, she organised and led a sold-out beer tasting session on the Chef’s School stage at the Shrewsbury Food Festival.

The Guild of Food Writers Awards winners will be announced on 6th September.
