The European Beer Consumers Union (EBCU), which champions beer advocacy and consumer interests in Europe, has launched a new guide, The Beer Styles of Europe and Beyond.

The website aims to become an essential resource, providing extensive knowledge about the expansive range of beer styles available across Europe and the world.
The guide categorises myriad beer styles into six major groups, based on ingredients, brewing processes, and serving styles, among other factors. It is designed to help beer drinkers identify common themes among beers of the same style or sub-style, and to enable them to appreciate the craft and diversity of brewing.
The project is spearheaded by beer writer Tim Webb, author of The World Atlas of Beer. The guide has a European perspective, but aims to be compatible with the 2021 guidelines from the Beer Judge Certification Program, used by beer judges, and the Beer Styles 2023 Guidelines from the Brewers Association in the US, aimed at craft brewers.
