Food waste-fighting Crumbs Brewing has announced its B Corp certification, joining a group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit.

Crumbs has been certified by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corporation movement, as having met rigorous social and environmental standards which represent its commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit.
The B Corp certification addresses the entirety of a businesses’ operations and covers five key impact areas of
governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.
The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity, and corporate transparency.
To complete the certification, the business will legally embed its commitment to purpose beyond profit in its company articles.
“It has been an immense effort to get to this point, but we are so proud to join the B Corp community,” said Crumbs Brewing co-founder Morgan Arnell. “The thing we are most excited about is that this is very much the start of our
journey, not the end.
“Yes, we fight food waste, having turned tens of thousands of loaves that would otherwise be wasted into delicious beer! Yes, we give over 1% of our revenue away to charities like Food Cycle. But we also love the fact the B Lab framework challenges you to think far more broadly about the impact your business has, and will continually challenge us to do better.”
Crumbs Brewing is now part of a community of 6,810 businesses across 90 countries who have certified as B Corps. The B Corp community in the UK, representing a broad cross section of industries and sizes, comprises more than 1,400 companies.
Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK, said: “We are delighted to welcome Crumbs Brewing to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies who are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good.
“We know that Crumbs are going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward.”
