One of the UK’s leading beer festivals, and the biggest in the South West, will open its doors to the public tomorrow evening in Newton Abbot.

MaltingsFest

MaltingsFest, now in its 29th year, is the South West’s longest-running real ale festival, but has recently expanded its offering to include craft keg beers and lagers from independent brewers in the South West, as well as some of the best locally-made ciders and spirits.

The event is organised by the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) and features the organisation’s South West beer competition, in cask and keg. These beers will all be available to festival-goers once the doors open from 5pm tomorrow (Thursday).

“Beer-wise, we should have something for everyone’s palate, with 300 brews available ranging from traditional bitters to stouts, lagers, amber beers, strong beers, and New World IPAs, with every style of beer in-between,” said Paul Arrowsmit, SIBA South West director.

The event takes place opposite the historic Tucker’s Maltings, in Newton Abbot, and is going from strength to strength. There is even a dedicated bar serving artisan gins, rums, and other locally-produced spirits.

The festival is open to the public from 5pm to 11pm tomorrow, between 11am and 11pm Friday, and 11am to 10pm on Saturday. Tickets are available on the door from £5, with more info available via maltingsfest.co.uk.
