A French woman who fell in love with British pub culture has devised a scheme to boost business at a group of independent London pubs.

Alison Boutoille, who arrived in London during the pandemic, has created CityStack, a £20 stack of beer mats allowing pub lovers to get £100 of food and drinks at ten independent London pubs.

“I fell in love with the pub culture and was fascinated by how Brits consider a pub as an extension of their living room,” said Alison. “But I was sorry to see how people deserted these amazing places, dedicated to gatherings.

“Last year, I decided to help prevent the disappearance of these businesses that are part of the UK’s DNA, with a unique gift for pub lovers, and launched CityStack.”

The pack offers ten money-saving beer mats, each giving £10 off a £20 spend at one of the ten independent London pubs that are part of the collection. When it is time to pay, the user simply hands over the bespoke beer mat to receive a £10 discount on the bill. This discount is available on any item on the menu at any time.

“With this pack, our users save money, keep going to lovely pubs, and support independent pubs at the same time,” said Alison. “It’s a win-win.”
