Fourpure is to host fellow craft brewery People’s Captain at its Bermondsey taproom, where a new collaboration IPA is to be launched on draught.
People’s Captain is spearheaded by professional rugby player Greg Bateman, who, after going public with his own experiences of struggling with mental health, found solace in the process of brewing beers and chatting to punters.
People’s Captain’s ethos is focused on brewing positivity and using the social nature of craft beer to bring people together to have meaningful conversations and have a positive social impact on mental health.
As part of its mission, the brewery launched the People’s Captain Awards 2022 to raise funds for its foundation and celebrate those who have gone the extra mile as a friend. One lucky person will be crowned the winner and awarded with their own personalised can.
The awards event will take place at the Fourpure Taproom on Bermondsey Trading Estate on 2nd December, when the collaboration IPA, called Steadfast, will also be launched.
Steadfast is a fruity, sessionable IPA, packed with apricot, citrus, and spicy notes. All proceeds from the ticket sales and beers sold at the event will be donated to The People’s Captain Foundation, which is looking to raise £1m to support mental health initiatives.
The event will also feature street food vans, and music from DJ Woody Cook.
Steve Cox, owner of Fourpure, said: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with People’s Captain as a like-minded craft beer brand on such an important mission. Every year, one in four people in England alone struggle with their mental health.
“We hope the taproom takeover and launch of Steadfast will help to raise awareness of the problems people face and play a small part in encouraging people to turn mental health into something we’re not afraid to talk about.
“We hope to raise as much money as possible for The People’s Captain Foundation and will continue to encourage discussions around mental health within the craft beer sector as it’s something we’re proud to support and help bring awareness to.”
