Siren Craft Brew has created a parti-gyle dark ale with coffee, the result of a challenge from the organisers of this weekend’s Indy Man Beer Con.

Siren Pool Parti

The beer — Pool Parti (6% ABV) — has been created with sustainability in mind. It’s made from the second runnings of Origin Story, and features rich coffee aged in rum barrels, sourced from Rafael Amaya, a specialist producer working with adventurous ideas and sustainable principles.

“The result is something we’re very proud of, a beer born from waste that tastes incredible,” says Siren. The malts are Maris Otter, oats, caraaroma, and roast barley, and the hops are Jester.

Indy Man Beer Con — the Independent Manchester Beer Conference, more formally — takes place this weekend. A last batch of tickets were released yesterday. Check here to see if any are left.

A full list of beers across the fours days, from Thursday to Sunday, is available on the Indy Man Beer Con app, available on Apple and Android platforms. It can be installed from here.

In addition to the beer list, app users will be able to create a shortlist of what they fancy drinking, filter by style or brewery, view a map, and see fringe information. There will also be alerts for pop-up tastings across the weekend.

The full brewery list can be viewed here. Late additions to the event include:

  • The Epicurean will offer take-home bottles and cans.
  • Low-alcohol specialists Mash Gang will be in attendance on Saturday and Sunday. BRULO will be at the festival on Thursday and Friday only.
  • Full Circle and Drop Project will be at IMBC on Thursday and Friday
  • Squawk will be in attendance all the time, with Runway along on Saturday and Sunday
  • Underberg will have small bottles of its digestif bitter available all IMBC

Indy Man Beer Con Fringe

A number of fringe events have been planned away from the man festival. These are taking place across the bars and taprooms of the city. No Indy Man wristband is needed, but individual events may be ticketed.
