Thousands of UK pubs are queuing up to stock a limited edition beer brewed to raise money for good causes. It will go on sale during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend.
More than 40 breweries have collaborated to produce bottles and draught versions of the special Thank Brew beer. It will be shipped to venues nationwide, with the initiative expected to raise thousands for the chosen charities.
All profits from sales of Thank Brew, which was launched earlier this month by actor Anna Maxwell Martin, will go towards community-focused groups across the UK, including those supporting Ukrainian refugees.
Thank Brew is a brainchild of the /together coalition, Eden Project Communities, and The Good Beer Co, a social enterprise that creates beers and campaigns to help fund worthy causes. They have worked alongside brewers Adnams and Big Drop Brewing Co.
The campaign quickly attracted the involvement of other major brewers, such as Budweiser Brewing Group, St Austell, and Theakston. These have all taken a specially crafted recipe for an easy-drinking 3.5% ABV pale ale. Thank Brew is also available in an alcohol-free version direct from Big Drop.
Independent pubs and large chains alike have signed up to serve Thank Brew during their Jubilee weekend events. All hospitality venues across the UK are being encouraged to join in and order a stock of Thank Brew.
Members of the public can also order bottles of Thank Brew online by visiting thegoodbeerco.co.uk/thankbrew.
Christian Barden, part of The Good Beer Co team, said: “This is going to be a great weekend for the beer and hospitality industry, and for their local communities.
“What better way to celebrate than by drinking a great new beer and give something back to extremely worthwhile causes while doing so?”
The Thank Brew campaign has overwhelming industry backing from the likes of UKHospitality, the British Beer and Pub Association, the Society of Independent Brewers, the British Institute of Innkeeping, and the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).
Sales of Thank Brew will also support Ukrainian refugees arriving to live with families in the UK through the Reset Communities and Refugees charity.
CAMRA has created an online map of pubs and breweries already signed up to serve the special brew and host events during Jubilee weekend.
