Anspach & Hobday and The Craft Beer Channel have launched a collaboration video on London Black, the brewer’s local, independent answer to Guinness.

Anspach Hobday London Black

The video features hosts Jonny Garrett and Brad Evans and brewery co-founders Paul Anspach and Jack Hobday. They detail London’s rich porter brewing heritage, go behind the scenes at A&H’s Croydon production site, and provide an insightful side-by-side comparison between Guinness and Anspach & Hobday’s local, independent answer: London Black.

Three of London’s independent purveyors of London Black feature in the video. Deptford’s The Victoria plays host to the side-by-side comparison with Guinness. The English Restaurant, in Spitalfields, pairs its oysters with London Black, while members of the public are invited to try their first pint of London Black at Bethnal Green’s craft beer institution, Mother Kelly’s.

Johnny Garrett, co-founder of The Craft Beer Channel, said: “We have been waiting years for an independent London brewery to take a nitro dark ale seriously. The fact that Anspach & Hobday have done it with a nod to the capital’s brewing heritage is just brilliant — and the beer is absolutely delicious.”

Jack Hobday, chairman and co-founder of Anspach & Hobday, said: “Teaming up with Jonny and Brad from The Craft Beer Channel was great fun. I really feel like everyone involved is proud to be putting a London Porter back on the map. Here’s to our local answer and to all those publicans putting flavour and quality first. Here’s to London Black! Cheers!”
