Members of the Brewers Association’s Export Development Programme secured 16 medals in the World Beer Cup.

World Beer Cup 2022

Fourteen American craft breweries active in export markets were successful, bringing home eight gold medals, four silver, and four bronze between them. They accounted for 4.9% of all medals awarded.

Returning after cancellation in 2020, due to the pandemic, the 2022 World Beer Cup was the largest competition to date, with 10,542 entries from 2,493 breweries, representing 57 countries.

Lotte Peplow, the Brewers Association’s American craft beer ambassador for Europe, said: “Having access to award-winning American craft beers in export markets around the world is a unique opportunity for beer drinkers to sample first-hand the quality, innovation, and creativity of the world’s most highly decorated beers.

“Many of the breweries who medalled pioneered the global craft beer movement and continue to lead it to this day, such as Sierra Nevada Brewing Co, Deschutes Brewery, and Anderson Valley Brewing Co. There’s a reason American craft beer stands out, and beating an international field of entrants to medals is testimony to that fact.

“Winning a medal at the highly competitive World Beer Cup is one of the greatest achievements in the art of brewing, and beer drinkers are lucky enough to sample such beers in international markets. Congratulations to all the winners.”

Historically a bi-annual event, the World Beer Cup will transition to an annual fixture from 2023. Brewery registration will open in October, with the awards presentation on 10th May, 2023, at the Craft Brewers Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
