The female team at Double-Barrelled Brewery
• Double-Barrelled Brewery, in Reading, is staging an open house brew day on Tuesday. It’s an inspirational and collaborative day, open to all women who are keen to learn about beer, get involved with beer, and, most importantly, who want to have fun with beer.
“We feel to proud and privileged to be a female-owned and operated business, and IWD is the perfect celebration of our amazing team of beery ladies!” says the brewer. Find out more about Double-Barrelled IWD project here.
• At noon on International Women’s Day, Track Brewing Co is launching a flash sale for the IWD print pictured above.
The IWD 2022 limited edition A3 print will be £29, and all proceeds from sales of the print will be donated to the Fawcett Society. The society is the UK’s leading charity campaigning for gender equality and women’s rights.
To celebrate IWD, Track is opening the brewery up to ten women to create a beer brewed by those who identify as a woman or non-binary, and who are keen to have a further interest in all things within the industry.
• Villages Brewery has put a special beer in limited six-packs on its web store to welcome International Women’s Day.
Celebrate! is a 5.2% ABV English farmhouse ale brewed for International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day. It uses malt from Hannah Beer (Crisp Malt), hopped with hops from Ali Capper (Stocks Farm), and brewed by Zoe Wyeth (Villages). Artwork is by Lauren Doughty. “This beer is a celebration of great English ingredients produced by women,” says the brewer.
Celebrate will be among the beers pouring at Villages’ taproom this Thursday (10th March). “We’ll also be pouring other beers brewed by women, ” says the brewer. “A New Zealand pale ale from Double-Barrelled and a NEIPA from Burnt Mill — delish!” There will also be music from local women Bold as Love and Becca OGT, and signed Lauren Doughty art to buy.
• International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day (IWCBD) is an annual worldwide event created to celebrate IWD by encouraging all women with an interest in beer to be involved with a brew. There is a role for women in breweries and beer, in whatever capacity they may like.
Founded by Sophie De Ronde, head brewer at Burnt Mill Brewery, in 2014, IWCBD has been encouraging women all over the world to get involved with beer production.
