BarleyMax, which contains a lot of health-enhancing, slowly digestible fibre, and the Kebari barleys represent a new generation of health-enhancing wholegrains, say the companies.

The barleys are bred in Australia, and besides there, the first foods processed from these barleys are on the market in Japan and the USA.

BarleyMax and Kebari barleys are suitable for the milling, bakery, and beverage industry, and for the production of beer and beer malt products.

The new barleys are being introduced into the North European market by Golden Malt, a researchand development company from Oulu, and Finnish co-operation company FoodFarm.

“This spring, we get to deliver small test quantities of these new generation barleys to the food and beverage industry,” said the companies. “Deliveries of larger quantities are planned to start in one year.”
