Hackney’s largest independent brewery, Five Points, has been named brewery of the year at the 2021 Brewers Choice Awards.

After being shortlisted in 2019 and earning the runners-up spot, Five Points has now gone one better.
Held annually by the team behind the Brewers Journal, the awards recognise the best in UK brewing, and are judged by an expert panel. This year that included award-winning beer writer Melissa Cole, beer sommelier Paul Davies, and Lotte Peplow, the Brewers Association’s craft beer ambassador in Europe.
As the industry slowly started to recover from the pandemic, Five Points pivoted its business strategy, opening a new brewery in the heart of Hackney, and launching a successful community crowdfunding campaign.
This led to the opening of the new Five Points brewery taproom in November. 2021 has also seen new product launches, including the roll-out of Five Points Best in 500ml bottles, a new mini-keg range, and the launch of a lager.
Co-founder and managing director of Five Points Brewery, Ed Mason, said: “We are beyond pleased to receive this recognition from our beer industry peers. It’s been a tough year for many, and we would like to thank our awesome, hard-working, and committed staff team, along with our supporters and community investors for making this brilliant award possible.”
