St Austell Brewery’s flagship lager, korev, has been named best international small pack lager in the world at the International Brewing Awards.

St Austell Korev

Brewed in the Helles style, korev (4.8% ABV) scooped two gold medals for international small pack lager (4.5%-4.9% ABV) and international keg lager (4.5%-6.9% ABV).

It went on to be named overall champion in the international small pack lager category, in which it was shortlisted alongside three other award-winning international brews.

The brewery was also awarded gold for Monterey Pale Ale, brewed by Bath Ales — which St Austell acquired in 2016 — and silver for Proper Job IPA.

Andrew Turner, managing director, St Austell Brewery beer and brands, said: “We’re so proud to be representing Cornwall on the world stage. It’s very special to have been awarded a gold medal for korev. To go on and be named best in class, in the small pack lager category, is a huge honour.

“The five medals we’ve been awarded are a culmination of many years of hard work and reflect the dedication and talent of our brewing teams in Cornwall and Bath.”
