Musician and publican James Blunt is to co-host an Amazon Prime show looking for ‘Europe’s next great beer’.
Joining him on Beer Masters, which launches on 11th November, will be brewer, beer sommelier, and broadcaster Jaega Wise, who runs Wild Card Brewery, in London.
Across five episodes, the pressure will be on as teams from the UK and Europe are challenged to brew different styles of beer.
In each episode, the contestants will take inspiration from the processes, history, and culture behind Europe’s biggest beers. They will then head back to their home breweries to get to work on perfecting the ‘brew challenge’ with one beer per episode being awarded gold, and a place in the Beer Masters final.
The teams will also be set a ‘serve challenge’ in each episode, to see if they have what it takes to succeed in the fast-moving, highly competitive beer world, from designing their own beer label to developing dishes that they would pair with their beers.
An elite panel of guest judges will come from big names in brewing, including Camden Town Brewery, Leffe, and Stella Artois. There will also be a line- up of celebrity hosts, including entrepreneur Jamal Edwards MBE, and model Daisy Lowe.
James said: “Beer Masters is a competition dedicated to the love of beer. It’s all about celebrating the finest beers Europe has to offer, from tasting the best brews to finding out what goes into making them. What the teams create in their kitchens and sheds is phenomenal. I’m so excited to find, and taste, the next best beer!”
