The role

Atom was founded in 2014 by two scientists who are passionate about beer and education, and has grown to be recognised as a fiercely independent family-owned brewery producing high-quality beers.

A key part of our business is our educational partnerships with local colleges, brewery tours, and our two bar venues in Hull and Beverley. As a business we strive to educate and inspire the public about both science and beer, and we expect our staff to also embody this in their interactions with customers in our bars and during brewery tours.

Atom’s creative heart is all about our beer; from juicy IPAs and fruit-forward sours, to decadent imperial stouts and everything in between.

We always strive to create the best beers, continually improving on what we do. The beers that we produce are often experimental, and we are seeking a creative brewer keen to curate their own beers and experiment with styles, and who strives for constant improvement of the product range and growth of the brewery.

If you have a flair for designing new beers, like a varied schedule, and are ready to lead production then this role could be for you! We are seeking someone with experience in a similar role with a brewery of comparable size (15hl brewhouse/160hl fermentation capacity).

Responsibilities

Day-to-day management and efficient running of brewhouse operations, including:

  • Wort production and quality control
  • Packaging when required (can, keg, and cask)
  • Recipe development
  • Raw ingredient management (hops, yeast, malt, etc)
  • Tap takeovers, brewery tours, and brewery events when needed

About the applicant

  • A degree in the brewing field, or similar, is desirable but not essential.
  • Three-plus years’ experience as a brewer.
  • Good people management skills.
  • Track record of making consistently good beers.
  • Forklift licence (desirable)

The role is a full-time permanent position. Average of 40 hours per week, with shifts based on department needs. £25,000-plus (dependent on experience). 28 days holiday, matched pension.
