The Pinter combines age-old craft brewing techniques with revolutionary new technology. The device enables anyone to make ten pints of quality fresh beer at home.
To date, Pinter has attracted £7m of investment, and is valued in excess of £40m. Investors include Naked Wine’s founder, Rowan Gormley, Monzo founder, Tom Blomfield, and the creator of the Boots Advantage Card, Zoe Morgan.
Despite covid, in the nine months since launch, Pinter has achieved revenues in excess of £3.3m. The team has grown from 25 to 211 employees, and more than 75% of staff have been promoted internally.
Broadbent believes the Pinter will end an era of unsustainably sipping on cans and bottles of beer and usher in a new era of fresh thinking in the brewing industry. Compared to one-use beer products, the Pinter has 70% less packaging and has a 50% reduction of CO2 emissions, compared to traditional beer production methods.
Since its launch, 1,528,500 pints have been brewed and almost 3,000,000 fewer beer cans have entered the waste stream.
Sustainability, innovation, and freshness
The Pinter has gone on to be included in Time Magazine’s best inventions of 2020, and received glowing reviews from mainstream media. It has also won a World Cider Award for Walthamstow Dark Fruit Cider, plus multiple awards from the Global Beer & Cider Masters against many household names.
Ralph Broadbent said: “I’m incredibly proud of how much the team has achieved so far. The Pinter was something we’d talked about for a long time, so the speed at which its generated support, interest, and genuine excitement was honestly overwhelming.
“We’ve become the second largest ‘off-trade’ brewery due to the thousands of people who have been brewing Fresh Beer at home for the first time. That’s amazing.”
Adam Keary added: “I’m really excited about joining Pinter. The business is building a platform that will change the way we interact with beer, built on a foundation of sustainability, innovation, and freshness.
“Where Ralph and Alex have come to, in such a short space of time, is nothing short of incredible and positions Pinter as one of the fastest growing businesses in the UK right now. I’m looking forward to getting started and building on the great foundation and growth potential of the business.”
