Brewers and cider makers across the globe are being urged to enter their best products in the 2021 International Brewing and Cider Awards, known as the ‘Oscars’ of the brewing world.
Registration for the event, which is the most historic beer and cider competition of its kind, will close on 1st October.
The 2019 event attracted more than 1,000 entries with 222 breweries and cider mills from 49 countries taking part. This year’s competition will include three cider categories and ten classes, and nine beer categories with 35 classes.
The first International Brewing and Cider Awards took place in 1888, with competitions now taking place every two years. A judging panel comprising the world’s foremost practicing brewers and cider-makers judge each entry blind, assessing each beverage on its sensory appeal, distinctiveness, and character, to reach a consensus decision on the commercial worth of the cider or beer being judged.
Ruth Evans MBE said: “As our entry period is drawing to a close, it is wonderful to see the number of entries from breweries and cider-makers from across the globe who have continued to hone their skills to create world-class beers and ciders, despite the challenges that we have all faced in the past 18 months.
“Our competition has a long and rich history of championing the brewing and cider industries throughout times of international hardship, and the 2021 competition will be a reminder of what the industry can achieve even in the most difficult of times.
“There are a few weeks left to register, so we urge brewers and cider-makers to consider entering their best beer or cider to be assessed by our panel of experts on a world stage.”
