Cheviot Brewery, near Berwick-upon-Tweed, is offering a new twist on beer tourism this month with the opening of its on-site glamping.

Located on the stunning Ford and Etal estate, home to an English Heritage castle and Northumberland’s only thatched pub, the site makes a good base for a walking holiday in the Cheviot Hills, or to explore the history and beauty of the Northumbrian coast.

Like most glamping experiences, the site’s accommodation is ready and fully furnished, meaning you can enjoy being in the great outdoors in luxury without having to remember your tent poles. So rather than fighting with your air bed, you can sit in the tap bar, which is adjacent, and enjoy a pint of Cheviot Brewery’s Trig Point or Black Hag.

Accommodation options currently include bell tents, which sleep up to four, and bespoke designed glamping pods made from upcycled shipping containers, that feature a double bunk and en-suite shower — perfect for families.

Also perfect for families are the furry neighbours. Cheviot Brewery has a trio of friendly alpacas on site and offer a range of alpaca experiences for children and big kids alike.

The site, like the tap bar, has been built making use of the managed timber from the estate and using local labour and suppliers, echoing the local and community ethos of the brewery.

• Bookings are now open, with the site opening in late May. To find out more, visit
