40FT Brewery, in Hackney, London, has marked the re-opening of its taproom with the launch of a new IPA, 06FT, named with a nod to social distancing.

Coming in at 6% ABV, it has a light caramel and toasted malt backbone, which opens up to reveal citrus and stone fruit flavours and aromas, balanced with an assertive bitterness.

40FT, which is independently owned and run out of recycled 40ft shipping containers in a repurposed car park, has worked with independent design studio NorthSouth to create 6FT’s striking hazard yellow and black branding.

The taproom has ample seating space, and friends and neighbours The Dusty Knuckle will also be on hand to serve wine, cocktails, and pizzas. The venue is open from Thursday to Sunday, 5pm until 10pm.

At the start of lockdown, 40FT created an NHS bar tap, which customers have been donating to via online sales, and which 40FT has matched pound for pound. Now, any NHS worker carrying their ID will be able to redeem a well-deserved drink at the taproom using the tab, for as long as there is money left in the pot.

40FT has also just released a new brew called Dalston Sunrise. A 4.4% ABV hazy pale ale built on malted barley, oats, and wheat, with a fruit-forward flavour, it has been created with the community in mind, with 10% of all profits being donated to local charities.
