Glasgow-based Brewgooder has collaborated with Bermondsey’s Fourpure Brewing Co to launch two new exclusive beers.
The funds raised from selling the beer will be used to support Brewgooder’s mission to deliver clean water to one million people, building water pumps in Malawi.
United by a shared belief in social change and a sense of adventure, the two breweries have produced a mango pale ale and a session IPA.
Inspired by one of the most loved fruits in Malawi, the bold, fresh Mango Pale Ale is a beer with a difference. The 3.9% ABV brew combines citrus-forward Cascade, Citra, and Magnum hops with subtle, balanced malt flavours, to give a fresh, tropical taste, enhanced by the addition of natural mango extract.
Packing all the flavour but with a lower, more sessionable ABV of 3.7%, the Session India Pale Ale is a distinctive IPA. It delivers a robust mouthfeel, thanks to the addition of oats in the brew, combined with a fruity, piney aroma of American hops, all complemented by bitter citrus dry-hopping.
The beers mark the fifth small-batch collaboration for Brewgooder, and the first outside of Scotland
Alan Mahon, founder of Brewgooder, said: “We believe that craft beer has the power to change the world, and this will always be the driving force for everything we do.
“Working with an incredible partner like Fourpure was a natural step in bringing this vision to more of the craft community and show that we can all make real change. We’ve loved working with the Fourpure team, who share our thirst for change.”
Proceeds from the two new brews will be donated to The Brewgooder Foundation, which has already supported more than 132 projects. The two beers mark the fifth small-batch collaboration for Brewgooder, and the first outside of Scotland, and are the next step in Brewgooder’s goal to galvanise the craft beer community.
Drinkers will be able to experience the stories of the people and communities affected by Brewgooder projects by taking a photo of the QR code found on each of the beer cans. This will take drinkers to a short film showcasing the stories, vibrancy, and love for life celebrated across Malawi that inspired these beers, filmed by the award-winning London-based director, Tom Welsh.
