Orchard Pig has announced the launch of a pink-hued addition to its award-winning premium cider range, just in time for the warmer weather.
Combining the light and fruity elements of a rosé wine with the medium dryness of a Somerset cider, Orchard Pig Pink is a crisp, blush, apple cider at 4.5% ABV.
With a playful tickle of sweet flavours, it takes its distinctive colour from purple carrots, a firm favourite of the pigs which used to trot around orchards of Somerset.
No other flavourings feature within Orchard Pig Pink cider, just bittersweet apples from the West Country, with a blend of naturally sweet red apples.
The gently sparkling cider pairs with food, with a carefully balanced acidity and sweetness leaving a well-rounded flavour.
Perfect refreshing drink for summer
Orhcard Pig brand manager, Rhona Fyfe, said: “We’re tickled pink with the arrival of Orchard Pig Pink. Over the past few years, we’ve seen the rosé trend erupt in the North American market as well as a huge consumer appetite for rosé wine and pink gins here in the UK. We want to bring a little bit of these flavours to cider drinkers with Orchard Pig Pink.
“While Orchard Pig Pink certainly looks good, it tastes even better and is the perfect refreshing drink for summer sipping, festival season, and barbecue dining.”
Orchard Pig will also be supporting Team Margot, a charity which was set up in 2015 by hospitality industry entrepreneur Yaser Martini, in memory of his daughter Margot. The charity honours her legacy after she lost her battle with blood cancer, aged two.
Unlike most charity initiatives, Team Margot’s core aim is not to raise money, but to encourage people to register as stem cell and bone marrow donors by raising awareness. Team Margot will be rowing across the Atlantic in a pink vessel, which is sponsored by Orchard Pig.
Part of the initiative is to encourage pubs, bars and restaurants to participate in Pinkspiration Week, offering consumers a pink drinks list, having a Drink Pink Day, offering pink-inspired dishes, or putting team members in pink to help raise awareness and encourage registrations.
