Following a 2018 crowdfunding campaign, Verdant Brewing Co has now opened its Seafood Bar, on Quay Street, Falmouth, in Cornwall.
Unable to serve customers at its brewing site, Verdant had been on the hunt for an outlet for a while, and saw the Quay Street venue, close to the waterfront, as a chance to create a taproom with a difference.
It’s a relaxed restaurant and bar, serving small seafood plates. Dishes include pan-fried gurnard with mussels and crab sauce, marinated brill with melon and pickled carrot, as well as a classic fish finger butty. With eight taps and a few selected sharing bottles from the world’s best mixed fermentation breweries, it is also a wonderful place to simply have a few drinks with friends.
Adam Robertson, Verdant co-founder, who is leading the project, said: “We love brewery taprooms, but we wanted Verdant’s to be a completely different prospect. The whole team loves seafood, so when the site came up we leapt at the chance, and it was only made possible by the excitement of our fans. It’s been a steep learning curve, but we’re really proud of what we’ve achieved — the kind of place you come for a few beers and end up ordering the whole menu.”
The Seafood Bar opened its doors this week and can be found on Quay Street, Falmouth TR11 3HH. It is open every day from noon until late, with no booking necessary.
