Shepherd Neame seasonal dark ruby beer, Spooks Ale, is returning this autumn with a new look and a new recipe.
Brewed with pale ale, crystal and chocolate malts, Spooks has a bold taste and a smouldering, smokey finish.
It is made with a quartet of hops. From Kent come Challenger and Target, with a late addition of American Summit. It is then dry hopped with Styrian Goldings.
Senior brewer, Stewart Tricker, said: “We have refreshed the recipe to give the beer a more up-to-date feel. The use of a generous quantity of Summit as a late and dry hop gives the beer both citrus and grapefruit character.”
The 4.7% ABV beer will be available throughout October and November.
