Sharp’s Brewery is celebrating another successful year at the International Beer Challenge and World Beer Awards, adding seven medals to an already impressive portfolio.

At the World Beer Awards, Sharp’s was named as a country winner for its Camel Valley Pilsner and Seven Souls, meaning the products have been identified as the best in the UK in their respective categories.

At International Beer Challenge, Sharp’s scooped five medals for a variety of its brews. Camel Valley Pilsner was a winner in this competition, as well, receiving a bronze medal.

Becoming the World Beer Awards’ country winner in the English-style brown ale category, Seven Souls also won a bronze medal in the International Beer Challenge. The brew is a deep and rich ale with coffee and chocolate notes, named after an inhospitable craggy outcrop on the rugged North Cornwall coast.

Doom Bar took home a silver award at the International Beer Challenge, thanks to its enticing aroma of resinous hop, sweet malt and delicate roasted nuts. Sharp’s also received bronze awards for Wolf Rock, Seven Souls, Camel Valley Pilsner and Chalky’s Bite.

Chalky’s Bite was created in collaboration with Rick Stein and named after his beloved dog. Matured for three months, this acclaimed Belgian-style beer has become a classic, with its delicate herbal flavour.

Wolf Rock is named after one of Cornwall’s most infamous offshore reefs, near Land’s End, and the haunting cry that can be heard echoing across the ocean when gales howl through its craggy fissures.

Sharp’s Brewery’s senior brand manager, James Nicholls, said: “Everyone at Sharp’s is delighted that our beers have been recognised so prominently again at the International Beer Challenge and World Beer Awards.

“The medals are a true testament to our brewing team’s expertise and dedication, and also a celebration of the collaborative work that goes on between Sharp’s and other Cornish businesses, such as Rick Stein and Camel Valley.”

Sam Lindo, second generation winemaker at Camel Valley, added: “We are thrilled that our exciting partnership with Sharp’s Brewery has turned into such an award-winning success.

“Wherever possible, we are always eager to try something new, and the Camel Valley Pilsner is testament to the success of our collaborative work with Sharp’s Brewery.”
