Greene King Brewing & Brands has added Yardbird into its permanent portfolio, revising the recipe by adding four times more hops to pack a real punch.

The 4% ABV pale ale was introduced as a seasonal beer and takes inspiration from the freedom and energy of American jazz.

Crafted by Greene King brewer Ross O’Hara, it allows the hops to take centre stage and shine through. Using American hops Citra, Centennial and Simcoe, Yardbird has a zesty and tropical aroma, packs a real citrus punch to entice the tastebuds, and has a clean bitter finish, leaving you wanting more.

Yardbird glassware features a distinctive bird wings and music emblem. The beer is now available in cask, 500ml bottles and 330ml cans, where it can be purchased in selected Tesco stores.

Dom South, marketing director at Greene King, said: “Yardbird was so well received when we introduced it as a seasonal ale, we decided to launch it as a permanent beer, packing it with even more hop flavour to create a beer full of character.

“It’s a perfect fit amongst our stable of beers, which range from flavoursome and rich ales to modern, craft IPAs. This morerish pale ale, with its fresh blue and white logo, is already creating a stir amongst our customer base, convinced it is the beer that will challenge the lager drinker into the pale ale category.”
