Chester Beer and Wine threw out the rulebook when it held its inaugural beer festival in the summer of 2017, catering for an eclectic, sophisticated, 21st century audience — a wider range of attendees than a traditional beer festival.
Unique event management skills brought more than 1,000 people 35 pub quality, cooled, craft cask and keg beers on handpull, a speciality gin and wine bar, award-winning street food and live musical entertainment.
Over three days the organisers included a corporate VIP session, child friendly afternoon (with kids’ entertainment provided), and a Sunday brunch for a more relaxed vibe.
This year, the festival returns from August 3-5, once again at Hoole Community Centre — a beautiful, iconic, 150-year-old building designed by famous Chester architect John Douglas, who was responsible for creating many of the familiar buildings in the city’s skyline.
Opening times and admission: Friday, 5-11pm, £6; Saturday, 2-11pm, £7; Sunday, 11am until the beer’s gone, £3; weekend ticket, £10.
