Yorkshire-based Little Valley Brewery is urging pubs and bars to ensure their teams are properly trained, to encourage the continued growth of the cask beer market.

The call comes at the start of Cask Ale Week, an initiative that sees breweries and operators celebrate quality cask beer with festivals, promotions and events.

Little Valley Brewery co-owner, Sue Cooper, said: “For some time now, cask ale has been making its way out of the shadows and it’s great to see that it has cemented its place within the craft beer scene.

“That’s not to say that keg beers are inferior in any way — there are some amazing beers on both sides of the fence. However, cask has had to work much harder to shake off its sometimes negative reputation.

“It’s so important that publicans and bar owners train their staff in the right ways to store and serve cask beer, or else a great beer can soon be ruined!”
