Salute Brewery, a not-for-profit business that supports military charities, has received a grant of £9,450 from the Big Lottery Fund.

Salute BreweryThe brewery works in partnership with military charities to provide training and employment opportunities to service leavers who find it difficult to adapt to civilian life. It is the first social enterprise brewery supporting military veterans in the UK.

Veterans train at the brewery in a practical way, giving them knowledge, experience and confidence to find jobs within brewing or other industrial or manufacturing industries.

Salute offers accredited training and aims to become a sustainable social enterprise, re-investing all of its profits into creating opportunities for service leavers. The beer brewed gets sold on the market.

The grant will deliver training, help remove barriers for veterans to aid their integration into society, enhance their confidence and provide them with transferable skills and work experience to improve their employment opportunities.
