The Craft Academy’s first two apprentices, Daniel Scott and Nancy Nangle
Craft brewing apprenticeship programme Craft Academy is opening its first London training brewery in Herne Hill, on September 7 and 8.
To celebrate the opening and the progress of the scheme in London, Craft Academy is hosting a launch event at The Florence pub, the new home of the microbrewery.
The Florence has undergone six weeks of refurbishment to install the new brewery, which will be a training ground for Craft Academy apprentices to experiment with ingredients, flavours and styles, hone their brewing skills, and develop new beers to bring to the UK’s flourishing craft beer market, all while they work towards a recognised qualification.
Daniel Scott and Nancy Nangle are the academy’s first two apprentices, now over half way towards achieving their qualifications, and they are inviting beer lovers and budding brewers to come along to the launch event.
The party will include DJ sets, in house and a barbecue menu (with unique food and beer pairings), all supporting raw local talent from South London.
There will be a range of Craft Academy beers on offer, including Ice Breaker, which was devised, crafted and brewed by Dan Scott and launched last month in selected pubs and bars.
Visitors will also be able to meet the whole Craft Academy team, sample a one-off beer brewed by both apprentices especially for the event, receive tips of the trade and get advice on beer and food pairing.
