Courage Beers has joined forces with Prostate Cancer UK during the World Cup to help raise awareness of the condition.

Courage Prostate CancerTaking advantage of the expected increase in footfall through the doors of UK pubs, the initiative has already raised more than £10,000, through donations of 5p per pint sold in participating pubs being donated directly to the charity.

Specially designed point of sale kits have been provided by Courage for the pubs, highlighting the partnership, including bar runners, beer mats, pumpclips, Prostate Cancer badges and information guides.

Driving social media engagement, drinkers are encouraged to share their experiences and photos with both brands’ Facebook pages to help promote awareness for the cause.

Sam Glickman, assistant brand manager for Courage Beers, said: “Prostate Cancer UK is a perfect match for Courage and our drinkers. Pubs are the perfect social place to get people talking openly amongst friends, and by driving awareness directly to our customers we are giving them the opportunity to help, in a small way, directly through Courage.”

James Beeby, director of fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, added: “We are extremely grateful to Courage for supporting Prostate Cancer UK and helping us to raise funds into vital research into better treatment, diagnosis and support for men.

“One man dies every 45 minutes from prostate cancer, equalling two men every football match played during the
World Cup. It is with the incredible support from Courage and their customers that we are able to tackle this disease head on and stop prostate cancer being a killer, and for this we can’t thank them enough.”
