Dunscar Bridge Brewery

New owners are being sought for Dunscar Bridge Brewery, in Bolton, after it was placed into administration on September 26. Ian McCulloch and Dean Watson, of Begbies Traynor, have been appointed as joint administrators.

Based in Dunscar, Bolton, the company had been trading since 2008 and operated a 27-barrel brewing plant. It also incorporated The Bleachworks private function room, which was a popular party venue in area.

Initially, it produced a large range of beers which gained early praise from customer and trade organisations alike, including the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA), which gave the brewery an award. New recipes were introduced and, only this year, its Big D range of craft beers was launched.

Ian McCulloch said: “Dunscar was a well established and highly regarded brand, supplying products to the local area and beyond. Unfortunately, it has ceased to trade as a result of rising costs in an increasingly competitive industry.

“We are currently in the process of marketing the business and assets for sale in order to identify interested parties that may wish to continue the business.

“Those individuals who had pre-booked events at The Bleachworks are requested to contact us on 01772 202000 at the earliest opportunity to discuss the impact of the administration.”
