Utopian Brewing

Černé speciální (5.9% ABV, can)
With an aroma of rich, sweet malt, this is one for contempation by a glazing log fire this autumn. Almost black, it has a red tinge and a cream coloured head. Deep roasted malt notes dominate the palate, with notes of smoke, some woodiness, and a hint of coffee.

Utopian Black Lager

British Pilsner (4.4% ABV)
Clear golden with a white head and gentle carbonation, the aroma is herbal and lemony. It’s got a fresh, refreshing character to it. Herbal, spicy, but with lemon pith notes cutting through. A good session brew.

Utopian British Pilsner

Dopplebock (7.5% ABV, can)
Deep mahogany/red with an off-white head that dies down very quickly. The aroma is roast malt and Demorara sugar. It’s a big, robust brew. Big malt character, bready, almost toasty, with dark sugar sweetness, then some red apple notes towards the end. Enjoyed this!

Utopian Dopplebock

Harvest Festbier (5.5% ABV, can)
A special beer, created by Utopian head brewer, Jeremy Swainson, after studying a 19th century brewing textbook. It’s an authentic rustic Auburg lager, with huge malt presence after an immense 12-hour mash. But there’s a hint of woddiness, and some spice, too. English Fuggles add gentle bitterness, that’s welcome after the sweetness. Read more about the project here.

Rainbock (7% ABV, can)
Slightly hazy and golden, with a foaming white head, this has a clean, fresh, slightly citrussy aroma. Makes you want to dive right in! Ooh, that’s good. Clean and refreshing, with a sherbet lemon/lemon curd note, slightly herbal, nicely balanced with a good light biscuit malt base. Perfect for a sunny, late spring evening, and very drinkable for its ABV,

Utopian Rainbock

Vienna Keller Lager (4.8% ABV, can)
Golden/light amber in colour, with a white head, this looks terrific as it pours. There’s a lovely bready aroma as the can pops open. The bready character carries through to the palate, with some caramel, too. There’s a tingling bitterness, spicy notes, and some lemon and orange citrus. This delightful, characterful brew, has a good body and is made, as ever with Utopian beers, with all British ingredients.
