Bavarian Helles Lager (0.3% ABV, bottle)
This pours an inviting polished gold, with a white head. Nice aroma — very true to style. Grainy, slighly lemony notes. On the palate, it’s delightful. It’s a good flavourful lager, well balanced, fresh and crisp, with spicy, orangey hop notes and a rich, bready malt base. I’d happily knock back one or two of these if I was the designated driver.

Best (0.5% ABV, bottle)
Polished amber with a white head that lingers well, there’s bready malt on the nose. Gosh. This is very best bitter with, indeed, some good bitterness. I like the caramel, husky malt flavours of this, nutty and rich, with a good body. There’s an edge of floral hop and a subtle spiciness. A very acceptable low-alcohol alternative to a traditional bitter.

Blossom (0.5% ABV, can)
Hazy gold with a white head that stays well, this smells really inviting — floral and slightly fruity. On the palate it’s smooth and fruity, with grapefruit, pineapple, kiwi, and some balancing honey sweetness. Really rather good, with a full mouthfeel.

Buttercup (0.5% ABV, can)
Bright, polished golden, with a white head. Not a huge aroma, but there’s a hint of lemon pith there. Stonefruit and lychees on the palate, balanced by what I can only describe as a Lucozade sweetness! Pretty decent.

Hoppy Pale Ale (0.5% ABV, bottle)
Deep golden, with a white head that fades very quickly. There’s a citrus, floral aroma. Quite orangey on the palate, very light in tone, with decent bitterness on the finish.

Milk Stout (0.5% ABV, can)
Black as night with a caramel-coloured head that dies down quickly. There’s milk chocolate and vanilla on the nose, and chocolate, vanilla, and espresso on the palate. It’s fine, if a bit watery.

Nitro Stout (0.5% ABV, can)
It looks stoutish, very black with that creamy head that stays well, although you do need to give it quite an aggressive pour to achieve that. There’s some roast malt on the nose with a hint of lactose. It’s not too bad. A bit thin, perhaps, and nothing particularly leaping out at me in terms of flavour, apart from some milk chocolate. Okay, but not exciting.

Organic Pale Ale (0.5% ABV, bottle)
Golden amber with a white head, it gushed out of the bottle! There’s a malty aroma, with a hint of orange. It’s a well-balanced beer with a decent body. Bready malt with an edge of orange citrus. Not a long finish, but there’s a gentle bitterness. A good easy-drinking alcohol-free option.

Pils (0.5% ABV)
Very light in colour, with a white head that stays well, this has a grassy, slightly herbal aroma. It’s quite crisp on the palate with bready malt notes. Pleasant and refreshing.
