6X (4.3% ABV, bottle)
A very welcome blast from my past (I’m originally from North Hampshire, which is in Wadworth pub territory). Crsytal clear amber with an off-white head that stays well, the aroma is of caramel and a hint of chocolate, with some nuttiness. On the palate, it’s a little lighter than I expected. That sweet malt is there, but there are herbal, floral, slightly spicy hop notes. There’s a side serving of chocolate, red berries, and that lovely nutty edge.
Buy it: I bought mine in Morrisons. It’s available on the brewery website.

Bishop’s Tipple (5.5% ABV, bottle)
What a treat after so many years. Alas,I never drank the Gibbs Mew original, made in Salisbury. Light amber with an off-white head, the aroma is of rich bready malt and some spiciness. A very nicely balanced strong bitter, with robust bready malt, notes of orange citrus and pith, too, along with a peppery spiciness. Very clean and fresh tasting. Good bitterness on the fin.
