Timothy Taylor’s

Hopical Storm (4% ABV, can)
Pouring bright gold, with a white head that stays well, this looks really inviting, and the orange zestiness on the nose builds the anticipation. On the palate there are big fruit notes. That orange is still there, along with mango and passionfruit, all vibrant and making the tastebuds stand to attention. In the background, light biscuity malt adds a degree of balance, and there’s a good body for the ABV. Landlord it’s not, but this is a job well done for its market, Timothy Taylor’s.

Timothy Taylor Hopical Storm

Landlord (4.1% ABV, bottle)
Bright gold/amber, with a white head that stays well, this has nice carbonation, helping it to look very inviting. On the aroma, there’s biscuity malt, a little caramel sweetness, and some lemon zest. The palate is well balanced, between robust, biscuity, slightly caramelly malt, and citrusy, spicy hops. It has a lovely refreshing aspect and is lighter in tone than our West Country bitters. There’s a gentle, satisfying bitterness on the finish.

Unity Stout (4.4% ABV, can — collaboration with Northern Monk)
Absolutely black with a fulsome light brown head – it looks very inviting. There’s dark chocolate and a hint of coffee on the nose. Oh, this is good. It’s got a great body , creamy and smooth, like a very flavoursome version of a well-known nitro stout. A lactose note joins the coffee and chocolate and there’s a nice edge of toasty, almost smokey malt. This passes muster beautifully.
