Hopical Storm (4% ABV, can)
Pouring bright gold, with a white head that stays well, this looks really inviting, and the orange zestiness on the nose builds the anticipation. On the palate there are big fuit notes. That orange is still there, along with mango and passionfruit, all vibrant and makingthe tastebuds stand to attention. In the background, light biscuty malt adds a degree of balance, and there’s a good body for the ABV. Landlord it’s not, but this is a job well done for its market, Timothy Taylor’s.
(3rd April, 2023)
Landlord (4.1% ABV, bottle)
Bright gold/amber, with a white head that stays well, this has nice carbonation, helping it to look very inviting. On the aroma, there’s biscuity malt, a little caramel sweetness, and some lemon zest. The palate is well balanced, between robust, biscuity, slightly carmelly malt, and citrusy, spicy hops. It has a lovelt refreshing aspect and is lighter in tone than our West Country bitters, such as the Spingo I had the other evening. There’s a gentle, satisfying bitterness on the finish.
