Stroud Brewery

Arctic Cat (4.5% ABV, can)
Rich golden, with a full, slightly off-white head that lingers well. Not too much on the nose, but I do get a little chocolate. It’s billed as a white stout and it certainly fools you into expecting hoppiness when what you get is, indeed, more stout-like. There’s a very slight dank hop characteristic, but milk chocolate dominates, with some side notes of coffee and vanilla. Very enjoyable!

Stroud Arctic Cat

Dark Skies (8% ABV, can)
I love an imperial stout, and this one’s a full-bodied, warming delight, black with red light straying through at the edges, and a thick, foaming tan head. Rich, fruity, and complex, it offers molasses sweetness, coffee, vanilla, dried dark fruit, a woody edge, and a tinge of whisky. The spirit comes through well on the nose, too. Very nicely done and balanced well, despite its oomph.

Stroud Dark Skies

Easy Peasy (2.6% ABV, can)
Clear, bright golden, with a white head which stays well. Lots of citrus and floral notes on the aroma. On the palate, wow, that’s refreshing! There’s a big citrus zing, a little tart, and a good mouthfeel for just 2.6% ABV. Very impressive!

Stroud Easy Peasy

Tom Long (3.8% ABV, can)
Slightly hazy amber, with an off-white head that lingers nicely, there’s winter spice on the aroma. On the palate, I’d describe it as a session winter warmer, if one can have such a thing. It’s a good amber bitter with a nice body and subtle notes or orange pith and spice, along with bready malt. Very nice — a proper fireside bitter.
