Alpaca (6.6% ABV, can)
Earlier in the day I’d been writing about Salt Beer Factory, and as I was doing some shopping in Sainsbury’s I came across one of their beers. And how fortuitous it turned out to be! This is an absolute belter of a double-dry-hopped IPA. Hazy golden with a thick foaming head, this bursts with tropical fruit aromas as soon as the can tab pops open. Grapefruit, pineapple, lychee abound. On the palate, it’s smooth (yes, there are oats) and actually not too OTT in the tropical fruit bowl department, although those hop notes are big and bold. There are decent balancing malts and a satisfying bitter finish.
Buy it: I got mine from Sainsbury’s.
