Salted Caramel Porter (5.5% ABV, can)
Created for the marvellous M&S house range of beers, this pours a dark, deep, ruby red, with an off-white head that stays fairly well. The aroma’s malty, offering a sort of toffee-apple sweetness. A little in the style of an Irish red, but with that edge of salt coming through to the finish. There’s chocolate, too — specifically a chocolate brownie flavour — and notes of red apple and cherry. The salt is subtle but adds an interesting edge to what is already a decent porter.
